Просмотров 4,4 тыс.10 дней назад
At 216 miles (348 kilometers), Adirondack Railroad's Utica-Tupper Lake NY train, the "High Peaks Limited," is thought to be the longest scheduled excursion run in the USA. 2024's first run of this "bigly" train occurred on July 20th. This video includes scenes of the "High Peaks Limited" in Holland Patent (12 mile mark), Remsen (21 mile mark) and, deep in the Adirondack Mountains, at a rock cut...

This video features New York, Susquehanna & Western switching FX Matt Brewery (makers of Utica Club & Saranac Ale), Utica NY on July 5, 2024 and, shortly thereafter, heading back up Schuyler Street with 5 cars consigned to Utica-area customers. My loyal canine companion, Witold, elected to remain hunkered down in air-conditioned comfort today instead of joining me (it was nearly 80 & humid this...

"Brains AND Brawn" Adirondack Railroaders

MOVING a caboose BY HAND? Plenty of brawn needed! This "special move" was accomplished by tough-as-nails Adirondack railroaders on June 5, 2024 when a caboose, painted in Conrail colors, was hand-pulled out of a siding in Thendara NY. The caboose was to be used as a shoving platform (once the Utica-Tupper Lake tie train reached Sabattis) for a twenty mile shove to Tupper Lake. This video captur...

"Ghosts of Railroading Past: Rome NY's New York Central Station"
Просмотров 1,9 тыс.2 месяца назад
Built in 1912 by the mighty New York Central Railroad, Rome NY's passenger station was a gem of a structure along the famed "Water Level Route." Last staffed in the early 1980's, time took its toll on the old station as rail passenger service began its long, slow decline. Nearly abandoned by Amtrak, the City of Rome eventually took ownership of the venerable station and commenced a major renova...

On May 25, 2024, I rode Adirondack Railroad's Thendara-Big Moose NY trip which happened to be the "season opener" for this particular train. In fact, I was the first rider to buy an in-person ticket for this run at the Thendara station. Scenes include interior views of the Thendara Station, a walk-through the yard, on-board views from the Adirondack's open air car, a look inside the cab of No. ...

On May 4, 2024, my trusty canine companion Witold (vee-told) and I headed up to Big Moose NY to video a New England Rail Excursions (NEREX) charter at the summit (2040 feet) of Adirondack Railroad's line. This point was also the summit of New York Central's Adirondack Division as well as the highest elevation reached on any mainline tracks operated by this "fallen flag." Northbound and southbou...

"Green Acres Limited: Rails to Farm" NYS&W Utica Branch

Each spring rail traffic to the big mills in Sangerfield & Waterville NY spikes. The railroad carries farm supplies, primarily fertilizer (probably feed and seed too I'd imagine), helping farmers' bottom lines as rail transport is cheaper than trucking. This video, made on April 8, 2024, catches the big train (for the Utica branch this way), as it heads through Clayville, Paris Station and on i...
The track these cars where stored at are gone. The City of Rome zoning communists new code all non active tracks must be removed. The city has lost a couple of lines that I know of.
What a waste of money
That last car was brand new. No graphetie!
Always love your little comments and explanations. I hope they have a good and safe rail travel season. Glad Witold and you had a nice outing! Is Little Red his friend? Lovely dogs. Was that an Alco? There was one that derailed in Rome, NY, not heard as to why. As of this Sunday just past, it was back on track and next to a hi rail flatbed truck that had a few black bananas on it. (I know they have been working on replacing some ties.) I don't think the train was going fast, but my, I could hear him lay on that horn when it happened!! It was a looooong blast! Watching from Rome NY
Catching railfans doing crimes.
This is kool

Thanks, Rambler, for making my day! Great brewery views! When the train goes in with its load and disappears, then comes back out, it's always nice to see. Glad the rails are still used! Watching from Rome, NY.
He ran the STOP 😂
Nice I need to take a ride again. I love driving my vehicles, but I need to hop on an Amtrak again. The last time I did it, I around about 6 or 7 with my parents.
Just catching uo from York, England - thanks for another great video and as always, your knowledgeable commentary is great for us who don't know the area so well!
I worked in Utica from 1969-1971. Sorry that I missed the train action. Still overcast. We used to say “The sun always comes out on Wednesday afternoon, unless it doesn’t”. Summer - mosquitoes the size of B-52s. More dangerous of them knocking you over vs. the bite. Lake effect snow - so it snowed every day. Wonder how they clear the switches during the winter? Great videos.
I do not understand why they use the horn so much on each occasion. Seems unnecessary.
Shame the drive into some of the remote areas is so out of the way. But I guess this gives the railroad some serious neatness. Parts of it are so far from any civilization.
Nice video..I'm surprised they ran both GP-38 and -40 for that train. Maybe just moving both engines to that yard at the end. BTW I really, really liked the period photos at the end. It's remarkable how much history passed thru the yards. RR used to be the big deal for so many years. 80 y/o now but I still remember those days well. I Lived in West Seneca (Buffalo) as a kid and walked the Lackawanna yards behind the steel plants on Lake Eire, also all gone now.
Awesome ❤❤
Fantastic video, very nicely filmed.👍👍👍👍 Thanks for sharing and have a good week. Best wishes.
Nice video from Morrisville NY.
I am happy I subscribed to your channel
Had a great uncle who worked for southern railway. He was a detective for the railroad police. Did this many times oncoal trains during a mining strike!
Great view! As usual, I love your videos! You and Witold stay well.😊
Hey rail rambler always fun watching trains street running. Glad to see industry in Utica going great.
Mechanical bells are so much better than electronic bells.
.... *"**#Subscribed**"* 👍 Keep the information of the history going 🧐 📚📚📚 I like that, #Thank_You
Nice job❤
Good evening R.R. & Witold, Thank you for nice video.
🙋
I often see bulkhead flat cars with structural steel loads. Where are those headed? Thanks.

@@railroadingrambler218 Thank you very much for your response. I always enjoy your videos.
Awesomeness!!!!😊
Always like your street running videos. Even the short ones. Like to see them switching the industries also!!
SNEAK was ambitious.
Il n'y a qu'aux USA qu'on peut voir des trucs pareils. C'est dingue ! 😁
Nice to see the Train moving down the street with the usual Boxcars, a Covered Hopper and the B/H Flatcar, loaded with Steel Box-section.
Man, i used to think it was bad that my first apartment was next to a railroad crossing and the same tracks Amtrak used.
Probably a stupid comment but they need a powered "broom" that rotates and cleans out the track grooves.
Noyes Street, nice!
It looks like street tram
🎉😊
Nice video🎉🎉
excellent video!
Those tracks belong elsewhere. That is not right at all. Unfair and unsafe to the residents. Railroad officials welcome to reply.

@@markpelc7686 Alan disagrees. Make another selection. Utica lost its underwear factory. Perhaps I just don't understand those eastern New York communities. Don't shoot!

Just like the trains that run through the towns and villages down *"South"* The Railroad and tracks was there first and then they built the towns and villages and cities around the tracks. They don't run straight through all the city of "Utica" , like they do down #South though. Notice this one was going into a railyard and the road came to a *T* . Back in the horse-and-buggy days. Those tracks was not a problem. The Trains back then was a boom to the economy, something for the Lucky #Mayor to boast about. 🎉 But not so much in our modern era, *_"they look _**_#Horrendous_**_"_* 😮 Of course , the people there can always _~move"_ ➡️
Get a life !!!
Great video ! Trains have owned Schuyler St for about 150 years now, I do believe. About time they had a memorial birthday celebration.
I think so, too, and 3040 ought to be something of a local celebrity by now. He has traveled the streets of Utica for a long time and not a single mishap.
Very cool video catch Railroad Rambler! (Dave).
Killer catch and video of the street runner !!
What’s that cut spur near the tower?
Wow cool
I love to see street running!
Depends on the type of operation. Switching is different as opposed to a mainline freight run thru at speed.
As always a treat to see them toddling down the street. The Shadow from some of the wires looks like rails on the pavement. Seeing the Estes truck on the right shows a much better meeting between Truck and Train. Last week NW of the Twin Cities BNSF derailed a fair number of containers out.amongst the corn stalks and dead center in the aerial view of the wreckage you'll see about 5 Estes containers strewn about the wreckage. Some heavy duty humidity today in Milwaukee
super video ❤❤😍😍
Really, nice video! Thank you for sharing it!
